Beijing Hosts China-Iran Foreign Ministers’ Talks; Regional Tensions and Nuclear Issue in Focus

Beijing — Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi held bilateral talks in Beijing on Wednesday.

Wang Yi, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, welcomed his Iranian counterpart to the Chinese capital. According to official information released after the meeting, the two sides held in-depth discussions on bilateral relations, matters of mutual interest, and the regional and international situation.

Sensitive issues such as ongoing tensions in West Asia, efforts to revive the Iranian nuclear deal, and the impact of unilateral sanctions are understood to have featured prominently in the talks. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to diplomatic dialogue and multilateralism.

This high-level meeting comes at a time when international concern is mounting over US sanctions, regional instability, and the future of the nuclear agreement. China and Iran have long maintained economic and strategic cooperation.
