Russia’s Acceptance of Ceasefire a Positive Step Towards the US: Slutsky

Moscow. Senior Russian lawmaker Leonid Slutsky has described Russia’s agreement to a ceasefire with Ukraine from May 9 to 11 as a positive step towards the American side.

Speaking to Russian news agency TASS, Slutsky stated that the willingness of the United States to remain a mediator in the Ukrainian settlement can only be welcomed. He expressed confidence that this would help build trust between the two sides and create an environment conducive to advancing the peace process.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump had stated that both Russia and Ukraine had agreed to the ceasefire proposal, with an arrangement reached to exchange 1,000 prisoners of war from each side during the period from May 9 to May 11.
