“Providing a Platform for Zelensky’s Russophobic Speech Is Abnormal”: Kremlin Displeased with Armenia

Moscow – Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov has stated that while Armenia has every sovereign right to hold any events, including a summit with the European Union, providing a platform for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to make anti-Russian statements does not align with the spirit of Russia-Armenia relations.
In a conversation with Russian state television journalist Pavel Zarubin, Peskov said, “Armenia has the right to organise any events, including the summit with the European Union. However, we consider it abnormal for Yerevan to provide a platform for Zelensky’s Russophobic statements. This does not correspond with the spirit of relations between Russia and Armenia.”
Peskov’s remarks have once again brought to the surface the growing distance between Moscow and Yerevan observed in recent months. While Armenia has been expanding its ties with Western nations, Russia has been expressing displeasure at activities it sees as undermining their traditional friendship.
