Russian Pacific Fleet Corvettes Arrive in Mumbai for Unofficial Visit, Signaling Stronger Naval Ties

A detachment of Russian Pacific Fleet warships, comprising the corvettes “Sovershenny” and “Rezkiy,” arrived for an unofficial visit at the Indian Navy’s Western Naval Command Headquarters base in Mumbai on June 7. Russian Consul General in Mumbai, Mr. Ivan Fetisov, participated in the welcome ceremony for the arrival of the corvettes.


Such events are a traditional element of the time-tested cooperation between the Russian and Indian Navies and are instrumental in further strengthening mutual trust. During the event, Mr. Fetisov emphasized that the visit demonstrates the steady development of the “Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership” between the two nations. He noted that military cooperation between Russia and India, amidst current geopolitical tensions, plays a vital role in ensuring global security and stability. The Russian side expressed sincere gratitude to the Indian side for the excellent organization of the visit and for their professionalism.
