China, Belarus Commit to Deepening Cooperation

Minsk — Chinese Vice President Han Zheng said on Monday that China is willing to work with Belarus to strengthen communication and coordination, fully implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, and continue deepening bilateral relations and cooperation.

Conveying warm greetings from Chinese President Xi Jinping to Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, Han said China-Belarus relations have developed rapidly under the strategic guidance of the two leaders. He said the relationship has reached the high level of an all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership.

Han said both sides should uphold the leading role of head-of-state diplomacy, promote closer high-level exchanges, and ensure that China-Belarus relations continue to move in the right direction amid a complex international situation.

He also stressed the need to carry forward the fine tradition of mutual support. Han said China supports Belarus in pursuing a development path suited to its national conditions and is willing to work with Belarus to implement the four major global initiatives and safeguard the common interests of developing countries.

According to Han, the two sides should strengthen the alignment of development strategies, deepen cooperation in traditional fields, explore new avenues for win-win development, and further strengthen public support for friendly relations between the two countries.

During the meeting, President Lukashenko asked Han to convey his best wishes to President Xi. Lukashenko said that under Xi’s strong leadership, China has successfully followed a development path suited to its national conditions and achieved great accomplishments, which Belarus highly values.

Lukashenko said Belarus is China’s all-weather comprehensive strategic partner and a reliable long-term friend. He noted that bilateral ties have flourished over the more than 30 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations.

He added that Belarus has always attached great importance to developing relations with China. Belarus consistently upholds the one-China principle, supports the major global initiatives proposed by President Xi, and looks forward to intensifying high-level exchanges with China.

Lukashenko said Belarus is ready to enhance mutual political trust, deepen practical cooperation, carry forward people-to-people friendship and further advance bilateral relations.

The meeting is expected to further strengthen China-Belarus relations on the basis of strategic trust, development cooperation and international coordination.
