Roblox Becomes Available Again in Russia After Meeting Child Safety Requirements

Online gaming platform Roblox has become available again to users across Russia after fully complying with the country’s legal requirements on user safety, Russia’s Ministry of Digital Development said Wednesday.
The Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media said it had previously held direct consultations with the platform’s owners regarding the protection of underage users.
According to the ministry, Roblox has introduced a series of additional child safety measures, including a mechanism that restricts access to games based on age groups.
The platform has also pledged to continue efforts to combat the spread of undesirable content, the ministry added.
Roblox had been restricted in Russia since Dec. 3 over concerns about inappropriate content that could negatively affect children’s spiritual and moral development, according to Russian telecoms watchdog Roskomnadzor.
Following the implementation of new safety measures and compliance with legal requirements, access to the platform has now been restored.
