Machu County Distributes Free Black Barley Seeds to Farmers

Machu County has distributed free black barley seeds to local farmers in an effort to support spring planting and ensure smooth agricultural production.

The free seed distribution program was jointly organized a few days ago by the Machu County Agriculture, Rural Affairs, Science and Technology, and Water Resources Bureau. A total of 22.5 tonnes of black barley seeds were provided to farmers from four villages/communities in Machu Town and two villages/communities in Godu Township.

According to local authorities, the program aims to help farmers carry out spring planting on time, provide them with quality seeds, and support increased agricultural production. Along with seed distribution, farmers were also given technical guidance on scientific farming methods, fertilizer application, and field management.

At the distribution site, staff members handed over the seeds to farmers in an orderly manner. Technical personnel also explained the characteristics of black barley seeds, suitable planting conditions, scientific fertilizer-use techniques, key points for spring planting, and important measures for field management.

The program did not merely provide seeds to farmers; it also offered practical knowledge needed to improve production. Local technicians advised farmers on seed selection, land preparation, proper sowing time, fertilizer management, irrigation, field care, and the prevention of pests and diseases.

According to the agriculture department, quality seeds are the foundation of agricultural production, and providing farmers with seeds in a timely manner is especially important during the spring planting season. Officials believe that when seeds, technology, and technical guidance are delivered together, agricultural productivity can be improved more effectively.

Black barley is considered a crop well suited to the local geographical and climatic conditions. Its cultivation is expected to help increase farmers’ income, expand food production, and contribute to rural agricultural development.

The initiative is expected to bring direct benefits to farmers while helping stabilize local agricultural production. Relevant authorities in Machu County said they will continue similar programs in the future to make agricultural production more technology-oriented, organized, and farmer-focused.

The free seed distribution and technical guidance program is expected to play an important role in supporting spring farming, enhancing farmers’ production capacity, and strengthening rural agricultural development.
