Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal to Visit China from June 14 to 17

Kathmandu. Nepal’s Minister for Foreign Affairs Shishir Khanal is set to pay an official visit to China from June 14 to 17.
The announcement was made by the spokesperson of China’s Foreign Ministry and shared by the Chinese Embassy in Nepal.
According to the announcement, Foreign Minister Khanal will visit China at the invitation of Wang Yi, Member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs of China.
The four-day visit is being viewed as significant for Nepal–China bilateral relations, high-level political dialogue, development cooperation, trade, investment, infrastructure, tourism, border management and people-to-people exchanges.
Foreign Minister Khanal’s visit comes at a time when Nepal’s diplomatic engagement with neighboring countries and discussions on regional cooperation have drawn increasing attention.
During the visit, Khanal is expected to hold talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. The meeting is likely to focus on various aspects of Nepal–China relations, implementation of past agreements, progress on bilateral projects, and issues of mutual concern at regional and international levels.
China remains one of Nepal’s major development partners. The two countries have maintained cooperation in areas including infrastructure, roads, energy, health, education, reconstruction, trade facilities and humanitarian support.
The visit is also expected to give continuity to high-level exchanges between Nepal and China. Diplomatic observers believe the foreign minister-level dialogue could help strengthen mutual trust, expand development partnership and enhance coordination on issues of shared interest.
Nepal and China have long maintained friendly relations based on mutual respect, sovereignty, non-interference and good-neighborly cooperation. The upcoming visit is expected to add further momentum to bilateral engagement and practical cooperation between the two countries.
