Foreign Minister Khanal Leaving for China Today

Kathmandu. Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal is leaving for China today on a four-day official visit. Minister Khanal is travelling to Beijing at the invitation of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Minister Khanal will hold bilateral talks with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi during the visit. The discussions will focus on further strengthening Nepal–China relations, expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest, and making the multidimensional partnership between the two countries more effective.
Issues related to political, economic, development, infrastructure, investment, trade, tourism and people-to-people cooperation between Nepal and China are also expected to be discussed during the visit. The ministry said the two sides will also exchange views on contemporary regional issues and matters of shared concern.
Minister Khanal is also scheduled to meet other high-level Chinese government officials. During these meetings, discussions are expected to focus on further consolidating the traditional friendly relations between the two countries and making past understandings and cooperation more implementation-oriented.
As part of the visit, Foreign Minister Khanal will also attend an investment conference aimed at promoting foreign investment in Nepal. On the occasion, he will interact with the Chinese business community and brief them on investment opportunities, Nepal’s policy environment and priority sectors.
Nepal and China have been holding regular discussions on diplomatic relations, development partnership, infrastructure cooperation and economic connectivity. Minister Khanal’s visit is being viewed as an opportunity to continue high-level dialogue between the two countries.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Minister Khanal is scheduled to return home on Asar 3.
