Durga Prasain’s Controversial Statement: Claims IR and NAB Behind Royal Palace Massacre

KATHMANDU – Medical entrepreneur Durga Prasain has made controversial statements regarding the royal palace massacre. Speaking at a press conference on Sunday, he claimed that the IR and NAB were involved in killing King Mahendra as well as King Birendra’s family.

Prasain also alleged that RPP leader Rajendra Lingden is a member of the IR and played a role in removing the king from the throne and introducing federalism in the country. During the press conference, he labeled major political leaders of the country as “traitors,” accusing them of working against national interest. He also accused them of keeping assets abroad and engaging in activities contrary to the country’s interests.

He said, “The money you have earned is of no use. You are those who sell mothers. You are those who sell daughters. Selling the country means selling mothers and daughters. You are criminals.” Speaking about the Nepal-India border dispute, Prasain stated that the government is using the investigation into the royal palace massacre as a means to divert public attention elsewhere.

He claimed that people have mistakenly placed their trust for the restoration of the monarchy in those very forces that ended the monarchy and the Hindu state, saying, “The same forces that ended the monarchy, that ended the Hindu state, that set fire to Singha Durbar – the TOB group, the Dalai Lama’s group – people are misguided into believing that these same forces will identify the killers of the monarchy and bring back the king.”
