According to the two ambassadors, Russia Day reflects the unbreakable unity of the peoples of the Motherland, their shared destiny, pride in centuries of glorious history, and Russia’s rich cultural heritage.

They noted that Russia Day in 2026 holds particular significance. By decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin, 2026 has been declared the “Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia.” The article states that representatives of more than 200 ethnic groups, dozens of cultures, and various religious traditions have lived together peacefully in Russia for centuries. Referring to Russia–Indonesia relations, the article noted that in less than 12 months, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto have met on four occasions. These meetings, according to the article, have been important for coordinating all aspects of bilateral cooperation at the highest political level and ensuring tangible results.

The two ambassadors conveyed the message that relations with Indonesia are important for Russia. They said high-level dialogue has created a foundation for further strengthening political, economic, cultural, and regional cooperation between the two countries.

The article also gives special importance to relations with ASEAN. The ambassadors said Russia has firmly and consistently supported ASEAN’s central role in the Asia-Pacific region. According to them, ASEAN centrality is a key prerequisite for the peaceful development of this part of the world.

This year marks the 35th anniversary of relations between Russia and ASEAN. The article describes this anniversary as an important milestone in the history of Russia’s engagement with Southeast Asia. According to the ambassadors, Russia–ASEAN cooperation has contributed to regional stability, dialogue, mutual respect, and the concept of a multipolar world order.
