India to Host BRICS National Security Advisors’ Meeting Starting Monday

NEW DELHI — India will host a meeting of BRICS national security advisors starting Monday, according to India’s Ministry of External Affairs. The meeting will be chaired by National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.

The gathering will bring together national security advisors and heads of delegations from BRICS member states for comprehensive discussions on traditional and emerging security challenges facing the world. The ministry said that particular focus will be placed on rapidly evolving security risks and the role of new technologies associated with them.

The meeting will also review the outcomes of recent BRICS joint working groups on counter-terrorism cooperation and the secure use of information and communication technologies.

India previously chaired BRICS in 2012, 2016, and 2021. In 2026, India is holding the BRICS presidency for the fourth time. The ministry stated that this year’s Indian presidency is centered around the theme “Building for Inclusivity, Innovation, Cooperation, and Sustainability.”

According to the ministry, BRICS cooperation has played an active role in diverse areas including counter-terrorism efforts, climate change, food and energy security, the international economic and financial system, telecommunications, agriculture, labor and employment, trade, and the World Trade Organization (WTO).

The meeting is expected to serve as a significant milestone in further strengthening security partnerships among BRICS nations and formulating common strategies to address global security challenges.
