Putin and Tokayev Hold Telephone Conversation, Focus on Expanding Russia–Kazakhstan Strategic Partnership

Moscow. Russian President Vladimir Putin and President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a telephone conversation on June 30.

During the conversation, the two leaders discussed current issues related to the further development of Russia–Kazakhstan relations of comprehensive strategic partnership and alliance. The discussion was held in line with the agreements reached during the Russian President’s state visit to Kazakhstan in May 2026.

Particular attention was paid to the implementation of mutually beneficial bilateral projects in trade, the economy and energy. Russia and Kazakhstan have long maintained close cooperation in politics, economy, energy, transport, security and regional affairs.

The leaders also exchanged views on international and regional issues. During the discussion, President Tokayev shared his impressions following his recent visit to Brussels.

Russia and Kazakhstan are regarded as important partners in Eurasian geopolitics, regional connectivity, energy security and multilateral cooperation. The latest conversation is seen as part of ongoing efforts to maintain high-level political dialogue and translate previous agreements into practical results.
