Real Club Deportivo de La Coruna have signed Mallorca goalkeeper and Spain international Leo Roman for nine million euros, equivalent to approximately 10.3 million U.S. dollars.

The 25-year-old has agreed to a contract that will keep him at Deportivo until the end of June 2031.

Roman’s release clause was reduced from 12 million euros to nine million euros on July 1 following Mallorca’s relegation to Spain’s second division. Deportivo took advantage of the revised clause to complete the transfer.

Deportivo earned promotion to La Liga from the second division last season, returning to Spain’s top flight after an eight-year absence. The club had been relegated from La Liga in 2018.

Despite Mallorca’s relegation, Roman produced an impressive series of performances during the season. His form earned him a place among the supporting players called up to help Spain prepare for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Roman made his senior international debut on June 4 during Spain’s World Cup warm-up match against Iraq at Deportivo’s Riazor Stadium.

He entered the match in the 73rd minute as a replacement for Joan Garcia.

Roman’s arrival is considered an important addition for Deportivo as the club prepares to strengthen its position in La Liga. His age, top-flight experience and growing international profile are expected to reinforce the team’s defensive structure.
