Putin Congratulates Kaliningrad Region on Its 80th Anniversary

Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated the people of the Kaliningrad Region on the 80th anniversary of its establishment, praising the region’s economic development, natural wealth, cultural heritage and the contribution of its residents.
In a congratulatory message issued on July 4, President Putin said Russia’s westernmost region was rightly renowned for its history, the diversity and beauty of its natural landscapes, and the industriousness, generosity and hospitality of its people.
He said the Kaliningrad Region currently possessed considerable development potential and offered a wide range of opportunities for attracting large-scale investment.
“Russia’s westernmost region is rightly renowned for its history, the diversity and beauty of its natural landscapes, and the industriousness, generosity of spirit and hospitality of its residents,” Putin said in the message.
According to Putin, major projects are being successfully implemented across industry, agriculture, transport, construction, infrastructure, tourism and the spa and resort sector.
He said economic development and cultural preservation were being advanced together as modern factories and high-technology production facilities were brought into operation.
President Putin noted that consistent attention was being given to preserving the rich cultural and spiritual heritage of Kaliningrad, widely known as the Amber Region.
He added that important educational, public-awareness and creative initiatives were also being implemented.
Putin cited the recent decision to grant the renowned Museum of the World Ocean the status of a particularly valuable cultural heritage site of the peoples of the Russian Federation as an important achievement.
The museum is known for preserving and displaying historical materials related to maritime history, ocean science, the marine environment, research and navigation.
Putin said Kaliningrad’s development was not limited to modern industry and physical infrastructure, stressing that equal importance was being given to the preservation of historical memory, cultural identity and spiritual heritage.
He expressed confidence that the region’s economic potential, geographical position, industrial capacity and opportunities for tourism development would help attract further investment in the future.
President Putin also said the energy, dedication and sincere love of Kaliningrad’s residents for their native land would continue to support the implementation of future development plans.
“I am confident that your energy, dedication and sincere love for your native land will continue to help you fulfil your outlined plans,” Putin said.
He wished the people of the Kaliningrad Region success, prosperity and continued development on the occasion of the 80th anniversary.
