China Imposes Temporary Ban on Helium Exports

China has imposed a temporary ban on helium exports. The Ministry of Commerce and the General Administration of Customs of China issued a joint notice on Friday announcing the temporary suspension of helium exports.

According to the notice, the ban took effect immediately upon announcement. The decision was made in accordance with China’s foreign trade law.

The joint notice did not provide further details on the duration of the ban, the specific scope of products affected or possible exemptions. It stated that any further adjustments would be announced separately.

Helium is considered an important industrial gas used in high-tech sectors, medical equipment, the semiconductor industry, space technology and scientific research. China’s temporary export ban is therefore likely to draw attention from international supply chains and high-tech industries.
