Wang Huning Meets Representatives of Overseas Chinese Associations

China’s top political advisor Wang Huning has met with representatives attending the 11th Conference for Friendship of Overseas Chinese Associations, which opened in Beijing on Monday.
Wang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, welcomed the delegates and extended sincere greetings to overseas Chinese communities around the world on behalf of the CPC Central Committee.
Addressing the opening ceremony, Li Ganjie, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and head of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Central Committee, said overseas Chinese constitute an important part of the Chinese nation.
He described them as important participants in advancing Chinese modernisation and as vital bridges connecting China with the rest of the world.

Li called on overseas Chinese communities to contribute actively to the cause of national rejuvenation, promote peaceful global development and strengthen unity and cooperation among overseas Chinese associations.
He also said Chinese communities in different countries could play a positive role in expanding economic, social and cultural exchanges between China and the wider world by deepening communication, cooperation and mutual understanding.
The conference serves as an important platform for dialogue, experience-sharing and networking among major overseas Chinese associations worldwide.
More than 400 leaders and representatives of overseas Chinese associations from 140 countries and regions are attending this year’s conference.
