Tomio Okamura, speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic, will pay an official visit to China from July 20 to 24.
Okamura will lead a parliamentary delegation at the invitation of Zhao Leji, chairman of the Standing Committee of China’s National People’s Congress.
The visit is expected to include discussions on parliamentary exchanges, political dialogue, trade and investment cooperation between the two countries.
Around 40 representatives of Czech companies are also expected to join the delegation. They are likely to discuss direct air links, visa facilitation, tourism and potential business agreements with Chinese counterparts.
According to the Czech side, the delegation’s overall journey will run from July 19 to 25, while the official visit announced by China will take place from July 20 to 24.
The delegation is expected to visit Beijing and other major Chinese economic and industrial centres.
The visit is being viewed as an effort to revive political dialogue and expand practical economic cooperation between China and the Czech Republic following several years of strained relations and limited high-level contact.
