Houthis Claim Drone Strike on Saudi Aramco’s Jazan Refinery

Yemen’s Ansar Allah movement, also known as the Houthis, has claimed responsibility for a drone strike on Saudi Aramco’s refinery in Jazan, Saudi Arabia.
In a statement posted on the group’s Telegram channel, its military spokesman said a drone targeted the Aramco refinery in Jazan and scored what he described as a direct hit.
The Houthis said the operation was carried out in response to alleged Saudi drone incursions into the airspace of Yemen’s Saada and Hajjah provinces.
Earlier, Saudi Arabia’s Energy Ministry said a fire had broken out at dawn on August 9 at one of the facilities of the Saudi Aramco refinery in Jazan and had subsequently been extinguished by firefighters.
The ministry said no injuries were reported, but it did not specify the cause of the fire.
It therefore remains unconfirmed whether the fire at the refinery was caused by the drone strike claimed by the Houthis.
