NORAD F-16s Intercept Two Aircraft Over Bedminster While Trump Was in Area

US F-16 fighter jets intercepted two general aviation aircraft that entered temporarily restricted airspace over Bedminster, New Jersey, while President Donald Trump was staying at his golf club in the area.

According to the North American Aerospace Defense Command, or NORAD, the aircraft violated temporary flight restrictions in place over Bedminster on Sunday.

NORAD said both aircraft were safely escorted out of the restricted area by its fighter jets.

“NORAD F-16s intercepted multiple general aviation aircraft today that violated temporary flight restrictions over Bedminster, NJ. All aircraft were safely escorted out of the area by NORAD aircraft,” the command said in a post on X.

Trump had arrived in Bedminster on Friday to spend the weekend at his Trump National Golf Club, a property he owns and frequently visits.

The US Federal Aviation Administration routinely imposes temporary flight restrictions around areas where the president and other high-security officials are present.

NORAD again urged general aviation pilots to review relevant flight notices and temporary restrictions before departure.

Authorities did not report any direct threat to the president in connection with the incident. It was also not immediately clear why the two aircraft entered the restricted airspace.
