Lawsuit Challenges Paid Early Access to Trump’s Policy Posts

A federal lawsuit has been filed seeking to stop President Donald Trump and his media company from providing paying customers with advance access to presidential posts concerning US government policy and other potentially market-moving information.
Trump Media & Technology Group’s new Truth API service offers subscribers access to Trump’s Truth Social posts fractions of a second before they become more broadly available. Institutional clients on Wall Street can reportedly be charged as much as $100,000 per month for the service.
The plaintiffs argue that official presidential communications involving issues such as war, tariffs and government policy should be available to the public and the media on equal terms. They contend that monetizing preferential access could conflict with constitutional protections under the First and Fifth Amendments.
Trump Media has defended the service, arguing that selling rapid access to information is common within the financial-data industry and characterizing the lawsuit as an effort to restrict the president’s communications.
Trump is the largest shareholder of Trump Media, holding more than 40 percent of the company through a trust. The case therefore raises broader questions over the boundary between presidential communications, private commercial interests and equal public access to market-sensitive government information.
