The Macao Special Administrative Region attracted 194 new investment projects from enterprises in the first half of 2026, an increase of 7 percent year-on-year, according to the Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute.

More than 60 percent of the newly attracted projects were concentrated in Macao’s “1+4” industries, with the number of such projects rising by more than 40 percent compared with the same period last year.

Particularly strong growth was recorded in modern financial services, high and new technology, and the big health industry.

The institute said 133 investment projects were completed during the first six months of the year.

These included projects involving listed companies and high-growth enterprises establishing operations in Macao, as well as the creation of venture capital funds.

According to the institute, the implementation of these projects reflects continued confidence among international investors in Macao’s market prospects.

Macao has been promoting greater economic diversification by expanding sectors such as modern finance, technology, healthcare and other emerging industries alongside its traditional tourism and entertainment economy.
