Dragon Media Correspondent

The Narayangadh–Kathmandu road section has reopened to traffic in both directions after a dry landslide was cleared at Simaldhara in Ichhakamana Rural Municipality-5, Chitwan, along the Prithvi Highway.

The landslide, which brought down trees and debris from above the road at around 10:25 p.m. on Friday, had completely blocked the highway, leaving vehicles stranded on both sides.

According to the District Police Office, Chitwan, machinery was deployed throughout the night to remove the debris. Two-way traffic resumed from around 6:15 a.m. on Saturday after the road was fully cleared.

Following the reopening, vehicles that had been stranded overnight gradually resumed their journeys. Traffic congestion remained heavy for some time because of the long queue of vehicles.

Motorists and passengers have been advised to remain cautious while travelling along the highway during the monsoon season, as several sections remain vulnerable to landslides and falling rocks.
