Voting Arrangements in Nepal Announced for Russia’s State Duma Elections

Russian citizens residing or staying in Nepal will be able to vote in Kathmandu and Pokhara in elections for the ninth convocation of the State Duma of the Russian Federation.

According to a decree of the President of the Russian Federation dated June 16, 2026, No. 428, elections will be held to elect members of the State Duma. The unified voting day for Russian citizens abroad has been set for September 20, 2026.

For Russian citizens in Nepal, polling station No. 8235 has been established at the Embassy of Russia in Kathmandu, located at 123 Baluwatar.

Voting at the Kathmandu polling station will take place on September 20. Russian citizens who have reached the age of 18 by election day are eligible to participate.

In addition, early off-site voting will be organized in Pokhara on September 13 for Russian citizens in the area. The voting will take place at Hotel Barahi Pokhara, Street No. 13, Lakeside, Pokhara-6, Kaski.

Those wishing to vote must appear in person at the designated polling location and present a valid Russian international passport.

The State Duma is the lower house of Russia’s Federal Assembly. The upcoming election will select deputies for its ninth convocation.

The arrangements in Kathmandu and Pokhara are expected to facilitate participation by Russian citizens living in or visiting different parts of Nepal.
