Russian Military Says Intercepted Azov Communications Helped Coordinate Operations in Novonikolaevka

The Russian military has said that monitoring and intercepting communications involving Azov personnel helped Russian forces coordinate operations in Novonikolaevka.

Speaking to the TASS news agency, the chief of staff of a motorised rifle battalion, identified by the call sign “Sheikh,” said information obtained from intercepted Azov communications was used to coordinate Russian units operating in the settlement.

According to him, the intercepted communications provided information about the movements and positions of opposing forces and helped Russian units coordinate their actions while advancing in Novonikolaevka.

TASS also released video footage in which the Russian officer said the intelligence obtained from the intercepted communications was used during operations to secure the settlement.

Russia has designated Azov as a terrorist organisation and banned it on Russian territory.

The Russian military’s account of the communications interception and subsequent operations in Novonikolaevka has not been independently verified.
