“Now Is the Time to Reduce Distance, Not Count Votes”: Newly Elected Member Thapa

Newly elected executive committee member of the Nepalgunj Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Top Bahadur Thapa, has said that the election has brought the chapter of competition to an end and that the time has now come to strengthen cooperation, unity and trust among the business community.

Expressing gratitude to voters and all those who contributed to the successful completion of Saturday’s election, Thapa congratulated newly elected President Chiranjeevi Oli, along with all office-bearers and executive committee members, and wished them a successful tenure.

He thanked industrialists, businesspeople, voters, the police administration, journalists and members of the joint committee for their direct and indirect contributions to ensuring that the election was conducted successfully, with dignity and in a cordial atmosphere.

Thapa said the trust, goodwill and affection shown toward him by businesspeople from Nepalgunj and various municipalities across Banke district represented a great honour for him. He also expressed heartfelt gratitude to all voters who supported him and elected him as an executive committee member.

“This victory is not merely my personal victory or ours alone. It is a victory of the shared trust, affection and confidence of all the industrialists and businesspeople who believed in us,” Thapa said.

He stressed that, following the election, the chamber should give priority to common business interests rather than maintaining divisions between competing sides.

“Now is not the time to count votes, but to reduce the distance between hearts. The chapter of competition is over, and the journey of cooperation and unity has begun,” he said.

Thapa also expressed confidence that the new executive committee under President Oli’s leadership would further strengthen the Nepalgunj Chamber of Commerce and Industry and establish it as a more united and effective common voice of industrialists and businesspeople.

He said he would also play an active role in making the chamber stronger, more transparent, inclusive and representative of all businesspeople, while seeking continued support, suggestions and cooperation from the wider business community.
