Pratappur Rural Municipality Chair Yadav Surrenders to Police

Umesh Chandra Yadav, chairperson of Pratappur Rural Municipality in Nawalparasi West, appeared before the District Police Office on Monday in connection with an investigation into allegations of forging and misusing government seals and letterheads.

Yadav had been on the police wanted list after an arrest warrant was issued against him. He voluntarily appeared at the District Police Office in Nawalparasi West on Monday afternoon.

According to Police Inspector Som Dhakal, authorities have begun the process of obtaining judicial remand to keep Yadav in custody for further investigation.

Yadav, who was elected chairperson of Pratappur Rural Municipality from the Nepali Congress in the 2022 local elections, faces a complaint alleging that government seals and letterheads were misused to forge documents in connection with the construction of a pond.

Police launched the investigation on the basis of the complaint.

An arrest warrant was issued against Yadav on Shrawan 20. He subsequently approached the High Court challenging the warrant. After the court cleared the way for the investigation to proceed, he appeared before police.

Police said they will continue examining documents, government seals and other evidence related to the case.

The allegations against Yadav have not yet been proven, and a final determination will be made through the investigation and judicial process.
