Xi Jinping to Attend SCO Summit in Bishkek, Pay State Visits to Kyrgyzstan and Egypt

Chinese President Xi Jinping will travel to Bishkek from August 30 to September 3 to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit 2026 and will also pay state visits to Kyrgyzstan and Egypt, China’s Foreign Ministry has announced.
Xi will make the visits at the invitation of Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of the founding of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said Xi will hold in-depth exchanges with participating leaders at the Bishkek Summit on strengthening SCO cooperation across various fields under changing international circumstances, as well as on major international and regional issues.
According to Lin, the discussions are expected to provide further guidance for the SCO’s high-quality development and for its participation in the reform and development of the global governance system.
During his stay in Kyrgyzstan, Xi will hold talks with President Japarov on bilateral relations, cooperation in key areas, and major international and regional developments. He will also attend a series of state events.
China sees the visit as an opportunity to promote higher-quality and mutually beneficial cooperation with Kyrgyzstan, further enrich the China-Kyrgyzstan community with a shared future, and deliver greater benefits to the peoples of both countries, Lin said.
Following his visit to Kyrgyzstan, Xi will travel to Egypt. It will be his first state visit to the country in a decade and will coincide with the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Egypt.
During the Egypt visit, Xi and President El-Sisi are expected to hold in-depth discussions on bilateral relations and international and regional issues of mutual interest.
China said it hopes the visit will further strengthen its traditional friendship with Egypt, reinforce mutual strategic support, expand mutually beneficial cooperation and support the modernization efforts of both countries.
The Chinese side also expressed confidence that Xi’s visit will open a new chapter in China-Egypt relations while contributing to regional and global peace and stability.
