Retired Teachers’ Society Banke Raises Relief Support for Flood Victims

The Nepal Retired Teachers’ Society, Banke, has raised financial assistance for people affected by the devastating flood that struck on Bhadra 10.
A meeting of the society held today paid tribute to those who lost their lives in the disaster and prayed for the eternal peace of the departed souls. The meeting also urged the government to ensure proper treatment for all those injured in the flood.
The society expressed its hope for the success of rescue teams engaged in searching for people trapped inside tunnels and those still missing. It also prayed for their safe rescue and called on all concerned to continue supporting the victims during this difficult period.
In line with a central-level decision, the Banke district chapter decided to contribute Rs 5,000 from its district fund. In addition, executive committee members, office-bearers, advisers and life members voluntarily contributed a further Rs 19,755, bringing the total amount raised so far to Rs 24,755.
The individual contributors include Rudra Bahadur Oli, Rs 2,000; Drona Bahadur Thapa, Rs 1,000; Lalita Upadhyay, Rs 1,100; Sundar Bahadur Gurung, Rs 1,000; Sarens Srivastava, Rs 1,100; Saraswati Sharma, Rs 1,000; Sushila Chand, Rs 1,000; Sher Bahadur KC, Rs 1,000; and Shahjad Ali Gujar, Rs 500.
Similarly, Shyam Budha contributed Rs 1,000; Gangaram Roka, Rs 1,000; Govinda Ghimire, Rs 1,000; Shashinath Bhattarai, Rs 1,000; Sushma Sharma, Rs 1,055; Baliram Harijan, Rs 1,500; Chintaram Sharma, Rs 1,500; Mohanlal Khadka, Rs 1,000; and Sharada Prasad Koirala, Rs 1,000.
The meeting requested remaining members and well-wishers to submit their voluntary contributions by Bhadau 16. The society decided that the entire amount collected would be deposited in the designated rescue and relief fund the following day.
The society also appealed to individuals and organisations to extend support for relief distribution, treatment of the injured, and ongoing search and rescue operations for those still missing.
