Separate Routes Introduced for Small Passenger Vehicles on Hetauda–Kathmandu Road

Authorities have introduced separate routes for small passenger vehicles travelling between Hetauda and Kathmandu from today following a sharp increase in traffic along the corridor.

According to the local administration, vehicles with fewer than 14 seats travelling from Hetauda to Kathmandu must use the Bhimphedi–Kulekhani–Sisneri–Dakshinkali route.

Vehicles travelling from Kathmandu to Hetauda, meanwhile, will be required to use the Pharping–Phakhel–Kulekhani–Bhimphedi route.

Santosh Subedi, Administrative Officer at the District Administration Office, Makwanpur, said freight vehicles and large passenger buses travelling to Kathmandu must use the Tribhuvan Highway. On their return journey to Hetauda, they will be required to use the Kanti Highway.

Traffic on the Hetauda–Kathmandu route has increased significantly after the Prithvi Highway was blocked at Krishna Bhir in Dhading.

The disruption has forced more vehicles to use alternative roads through Hetauda, resulting in congestion and long traffic delays.

The local administration expects the new route management system to reduce congestion on alternative roads and minimise the time vehicles are forced to remain stuck in traffic.
