Seven Kavre Local Governments Pledge Rs 12 Million for Bhote Koshi Flood Victims

Seven local governments in Kavrepalanchok have decided to provide a total of Rs 12 million for the rescue, relief and rehabilitation of people affected by the Bhote Koshi flood.

Dhulikhel Municipality will contribute Rs 1 million, Bethanchok Rural Municipality Rs 3.5 million, Panauti Municipality Rs 3 million, Panchkhal Municipality Rs 1 million, Banepa Municipality Rs 1.5 million, and Roshi and Chaurideurali rural municipalities Rs 1 million each.

Bethanchok Rural Municipality said it would provide Rs 1.5 million from its disaster fund to the Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund, while another Rs 2 million would be raised from the allowances and salaries of elected representatives, teachers and employees.

Acting Mayor of Dhulikhel Nirajan Jangam said four people from the municipality are still out of contact following the Bhote Koshi flood and that coordination with relevant state agencies is continuing to trace them.

Political, cooperative, social and private organizations in the district have also announced financial assistance. Nepali Congress Kavrepalanchok has provided Rs 1.766 million through its central committee, while several cooperatives, ward offices, private businesses and other institutions have pledged additional support.

According to the District Administration Office, Kavrepalanchok, 52 people were initially reported out of contact across the district. After some were traced and bodies of others were recovered, the number currently out of contact has fallen to 41.
