Xi Jinping to Attend 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi

Chinese President Xi Jinping will attend the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi, India, from September 12 to 13, at the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a spokesperson for China’s Foreign Ministry announced on Thursday.

Xi’s visit comes at a time when discussions within BRICS are intensifying over the global economy, multilateral cooperation and the growing role of emerging and developing economies. The summit is expected to address economic and trade cooperation, development finance, reform of the multilateral system and broader issues of global governance.

The visit is also significant in the context of China–India relations.
