Land Subdivision Reopens in Pokhara After Land-Use Classification

Pokhara Metropolitan City has reopened land subdivision services after completing land-use classification across all 33 wards. Nearly 700,000 land parcels within the metropolitan area have been classified and the details forwarded to the relevant land administration and survey offices for implementation.

According to Mayor Dhanraj Acharya, the land-use classification was prepared in accordance with the Land Use Act 2019 and the Land Use Regulations 2022, based on the nature and designated use of the land. The classification details have already been published in the local gazette following recommendations from the metropolitan land-use council and approval by the municipal executive.

The metropolitan city has formally requested the district-level land administration and survey offices to proceed with land administration, subdivision, mapping and record-related work in accordance with existing laws and the newly approved land-use classification.

It has also asked the concerned offices to coordinate closely in providing land-related services, including parcel subdivision, cadastral mapping and record management.

Mayor Acharya said the completion of land-use classification would make land subdivision, property transactions and related administrative procedures more convenient for the public. The metropolitan city expects the move to ease long-standing difficulties faced by residents and contribute to more systematic land management.
