Russia Issues First Conviction Under New Law on Online Drug Propaganda

A Russian court has issued the country’s first conviction under a new legal provision concerning the promotion of drugs on the internet.
According to the Central District Court of Orenburg, the convicted individual was fined 100,000 rubles. The person’s mobile phone was also confiscated and transferred to the state.
The court said the ruling has entered into legal force. The case has been described as the first conviction in Russia under the new legislation targeting online drug propaganda.
