Brothers FC Win Teej Cup Five-a-Side Football Title

Brothers FC have won the Open Teej Cup Five-a-Side Football Tournament held in Khajura, Banke. Brothers FC were crowned champions after delivering an impressive performance in Wednesday’s final of the tournament organised by Roaring Lions Club.

Along with the title, Brothers FC received Rs 20,000 in cash, a trophy and medals. The runners-up were awarded Rs 8,000 along with a trophy and medals. The tournament had been underway since Bhadra 28. Organised as an open competition, each team was allowed to field five players with two substitutes.

Following the title victory, Brothers FC players and supporters credited the team’s collective hard work, unity and continuous struggle as the main foundations of their success. The team dedicated the victory to its leader and treasurer, Rakesh Poudel, praising his encouragement and his role in keeping the team united. Expressing his happiness after Brothers FC secured first place, Poudel congratulated the players and praised their abilities.

Poudel has recently been highly active in campaigns aimed at social transformation. Within his capacity, he has also been personally supporting local youths, disadvantaged people and those in need. At a time when some people seek publicity by collecting money from others in the name of social service and presenting it as their own contribution, Poudel has set an example by allocating a portion of his personal income to social service.

“This victory is not just a trophy. It is the result of our team’s hard work, unity, struggle and belief,” Brothers FC President Bibek Sagar Poudel said after the title triumph. He said Brothers FC players need additional training and opportunities and that he has been coordinating with various agencies to create such opportunities.

“The other office-bearers, players and supporters of Brothers FC are our family and our strength. Discussions are underway on how this strength can be connected with social transformation,” Poudel said. Players including Mohit Thapa, Abhishek Khadka and Namraj Bhandari said Poudel’s leadership and continuous encouragement had helped the team move forward with confidence throughout the tournament.

Brothers FC has remained continuously active in local football in the Khajura area in recent times. Earlier, in Jestha, the club also won the First Ashok Memorial Cup U-20 Football Tournament held in Khajura. After the final ended goalless in regulation time, Brothers FC defeated the Mahindra Dal Battalion Ex-Servicemen’s team 5–4 in a penalty shootout. Bharat Gharti Magar captained the team in that tournament.

Earlier this year, Brothers FC also produced an impressive performance in the men’s futsal competition of the HSCYC Cup held in Rukum East. In the match that secured the club’s place in the semifinals, Brothers FC defeated Narebang FC 6–2. Mohit Thapa scored five goals, while captain Bharat Gharti Magar added one. The team’s continued participation and strong performances in different competitions demonstrate Brothers FC’s ongoing efforts to connect local young players with competitive football and strengthen its squad.

The Teej Cup organised by Roaring Lions Club placed priority on promoting unity, sportsmanship and brotherhood among young people through sports. The organisers presented the tournament under the values of “Unity, Sportsmanship and Brotherhood.” Such open competitions at the local level are expected to provide emerging players with a competitive environment and help sustain regular football activities.

For Brothers FC, the latest title is more than just another trophy. The team’s consistent performances in several tournaments within a short period indicate that it is steadily establishing itself as an emerging and competitive football side in the Khajura area.
