Bhatbhateni’s Tangal Store Reopens After Reconstruction Within a Year

Bhatbhateni Super Market has completed the reconstruction of its main building in Tangal, Kathmandu, which was destroyed in an arson attack during last year’s Gen Z protests on Bhadra 24. The company has announced that the store will resume operations at 10 a.m. on Monday, marking its return to service within a year of the destruction.

Announcing the reopening, Bhatbhateni said it was beginning a new chapter from the very place where its journey started. Expressing gratitude to customers and well-wishers, the company stated, “After a difficult time, your love and trust gave us the courage to rise again. We look forward to adding new happiness to the memories we share with you.”

Bhatbhateni Super Market Chairman and Managing Director Min Bahadur Gurung said the reconstruction had been carried forward despite numerous challenges, with priority given to the company’s responsibilities toward employees and customers. The company reportedly suffered losses exceeding NPR 15 billion across its stores affected by the arson attacks.

According to the company, 10 of the 12 stores destroyed in the attacks will have resumed operations with the reopening of the Tangal outlet. Preparations are also underway to reopen the remaining stores in Damak and Hetauda soon.

The reopening of Bhatbhateni’s main building in Tangal represents a significant milestone in the company’s business recovery, restoration of damaged infrastructure, protection of employment and rebuilding of customer confidence.
