Chinese Foundation Distributes Food, Family Care Kits and Solar Lights to Flood-Affected Families in Rasuwa and Nuwakot

The China Foundation for Rural Development (CFRD) has extended humanitarian assistance to families affected by the devastating flash floods that struck Rasuwa and neighboring districts on August 26. The foundation has distributed 167 food packs, 225 family care kits and 449 solar lights to affected households across Rasuwa and Nuwakot, helping communities struggling to recover from the disaster.

The relief initiative aims to address the immediate needs of families whose homes, livelihoods and access to essential services were disrupted by the floods. The food packs provide essential nutritional support, while each family care kit contains 11 household and personal hygiene items designed to help affected families maintain basic living conditions during the recovery period.

The distribution of solar lights has provided additional support to households facing disrupted electricity supplies and difficult living conditions. The lights are helping families restore a sense of safety after dark while enabling children to continue their studies in the evening. For communities facing uncertainty and hardship, access to reliable lighting represents a practical contribution toward restoring everyday life.

CFRD field teams continue working closely with local authorities to identify and reach families most in need, particularly in remote and severely affected areas. Relief distribution remains ongoing, with coordination at the local level helping ensure that available assistance reaches vulnerable households according to their immediate requirements.

The foundation has acknowledged the contributions of its partners and donors, whose support has made the humanitarian initiative possible. CFRD has reaffirmed its commitment to standing alongside affected communities not only during the emergency response but also throughout their recovery and efforts to build greater resilience against future disasters.
