Putin and Mirziyoyev Hold Telephone Talks on Strengthening Russia–Uzbekistan Relations

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation on September 21, discussing current bilateral issues and ways to further strengthen the alliance between Russia and Uzbekistan.

According to the Kremlin, President Mirziyoyev congratulated Putin on the conduct of elections to the ninth State Duma, the lower house of the Russian Federal Assembly.

The two leaders also discussed voter participation and the election results. The Kremlin’s statement characterised the turnout and results as demonstrating public support for Putin’s policies aimed at advancing Russia’s socioeconomic development and safeguarding its national interests.

During the conversation, Putin and Mirziyoyev exchanged views on current bilateral priorities and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the alliance between their countries.

Russia and Uzbekistan maintain extensive cooperation in political dialogue, trade, energy, industrial development and regional affairs. The latest telephone conversation continued high-level engagement between the two countries and underscored their shared interest in expanding bilateral cooperation.
