China Warns Against Diversion of Two Chemicals into Illegal Drug Production

China’s anti-narcotics authorities have warned businesses and individuals to prevent medetomidine and tartaric acid from being diverted into illegal drug production.

The office of the China National Narcotics Control Commission issued the warning on Tuesday, urging companies and individuals involved in handling, trading or exporting the two chemicals to exercise caution and comply strictly with previously issued notices.

The authorities emphasized the need to ensure that chemicals intended for legitimate purposes do not enter illegal production or distribution channels.

According to the commission’s office, businesses and individuals dealing in or exporting the substances must comply with applicable Chinese laws and regulations, as well as those of the destination countries.

The warning underscores China’s efforts to prevent the misuse of chemicals in illegal drug production while maintaining lawful trade and regulatory compliance.
