Japan Imposes New Sanctions on Russian Individuals, Companies and 35 Vessels

Japan has announced a new package of sanctions targeting Russian individuals and companies, according to a government document cited by TASS.

The measures name VNIIR-Progress chief executive Vladislav Kostin, Rostec Deputy CEO Dmitry Lelikov, Rostec executive Vasily Brovko and six other individuals.

VNIIR-Progress, Voentorg, Alabuga Development, Alabuga Machinery and Uralvagonzavod are among the companies and organisations targeted, along with 28 others. Four companies from Türkiye and the United Arab Emirates have also been added to Japan’s designation lists.

For the first time, Tokyo has imposed restrictions on 35 vessels that it says may be linked to Russia.
