The US administration is considering whether to ease sanctions on the Russian Direct Investment Fund, The New York Times reported, citing sources.
An unnamed US administration official said Washington was reviewing the fund’s request for sanctions relief as part of efforts to improve relations between the United States and Russia. No formal decision has been announced.
The report also discussed the role of Kirill Dmitriev, the fund’s chief executive and a special envoy of the Russian president for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries.
