Polish President Nawrocki Enters Constitutional Tribunal Amid Protest

Dragon Media News Desk

Polish President Karol Nawrocki has arrived at the Constitutional Tribunal in Warsaw, where a protest involving opposition leaders is underway.

Presidential Chief of Staff Paweł Szefernaker wrote on social media that Nawrocki entered the tribunal building accompanied by Zbigniew Kapiński, First President of the Supreme Court.

Polish television broadcaster Telewizja Republika reported that members of the president’s security team were not allowed to enter the building. A video posted on social media by newly appointed Constitutional Tribunal judge Maciej Berek appeared to show an attempt to stop Nawrocki from entering.

Tensions around the tribunal have risen amid an ongoing dispute between the government and opposition over the appointment and status of its judges. The dispute intensified after judges selected by Parliament took their oaths without the president’s presence, raising questions about their assumption of office and participation in judicial proceedings.
