Russian President Vladimir Putin has never refused to speak with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov has said.

Asked whether Putin would answer the phone if Zelensky called, Ushakov told Vesti reporter Pavel Zarubin: “I think he would answer, of course. Putin has never refused to talk.”

Ushakov added that Zelensky was welcome to visit Moscow if he wanted to meet Putin in person.

“He is sending signals through various channels. If he really wants to negotiate, he is free to come to Moscow,” Ushakov said.
