Preparations are under way for a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the APEC summit, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

“The preparations for this meeting are confirmed. We are looking forward to it,” Peskov said. He added that Russia always looks forward to summit meetings with its Chinese friends.

The programme for Putin’s attendance at the APEC summit is still being prepared, Peskov said. Russia is coordinating mainly with the event organisers and the Chinese side, he added.

Peskov said no specific details were available about a possible trilateral meeting at the summit involving Putin, Xi and US President Donald Trump.
