Highland Medicinal Herb Harvest Brings New Income to Zamtang Villagers

Dragon Media News Desk

The highlands are fragrant with medicinal herbs this autumn as the planting base in Suyuo Village, Phosul Township, Zamtang County, reports a good harvest. Villagers are busy gathering the crop during the peak of the farming season.

Suyuo’s high elevation and cool climate provide favorable conditions for growing medicinal herbs. In recent years, the county’s forestry and grassland bureau has promoted cultivation beneath forest cover, pairing ecological protection with the development of traditional Chinese and Tibetan medicinal plants.

Officials have provided villagers with technical support throughout the process, from supplying seeds to advising on cultivation and management. Standardized planting and sustainable harvesting practices are intended to protect the local environment while supporting the industry.

The village has drawn on its forest resources to develop medicinal herb production, creating local employment and helping residents earn income close to home. The county plans to further expand integrated forest and herb cultivation, improve product quality, strengthen the collective economy and support stable incomes and rural revitalization.
