Unique ‘Rock Formation’ in Remote High-Altitude Terrain: Journalist-Led Team Explores Special Conservation Area in Nagchu

Nagchu (Tibet) — A team including journalists recently conducted an on-site exploration of a unique “rock formation” located at a site called Paomo Khyung Dzong in Tso Nyi County, Nagchu, Tibet.

Situated at an altitude of approximately 5,000 meters above sea level in a desolate valley of the northern plains, this area has no constructed access route. Beside it lies a volcanic remnant, featuring a roughly 300-meter-long lava layer and an enormous cluster of Zhon Wu rocks, creating an extraordinary geological landscape.

Last week, in cooperation with the Special Administration and Conservation Team under the Management Bureau of the Nagchu National-Level Nature Conservation Area, a team of journalists visited the region and gathered information about its geological and ecological significance. Owing to its inaccessibility and unique natural formations, the area is increasingly drawing the interest of researchers and adventure tourists.
