Trump’s Special Envoy Gor Arrives in Kathmandu with Six-Member Delegation

Kathmandu — US President Donald Trump’s Special Envoy for South and Central Asia, Sergio Gor, arrived in Kathmandu on Thursday evening with a six-member delegation. During his three-day official visit, he is scheduled to hold discussions with Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle and Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal on bilateral relations, economic cooperation, and regional security, among other topics.
Sources claim Gor will also meet Chief of Army Staff General Ashok Raj Sigdel, with discussions expected to cover security cooperation, military training, and strategic partnership. Gor, who also serves as US Ambassador to India, is considered a trusted diplomat of President Trump. His visit follows that of US Assistant Secretary of State Sameer Paul Kapur, who toured Nepal on April 20.
Gor’s visit is expected to lend further momentum to diplomatic ties with the new government formed under Balen Shah’s leadership following the February 21 elections. He is the highest-ranking US diplomat to visit Nepal since the new government took office. However, no official confirmation has yet been made regarding a meeting between Gor and Prime Minister Shah.
