King Cobra Found for the First Time in Gadawa, Rescued and Released Back into Natural Habitat

DEUKHURI, Dang – A King Cobra (Ophiophagus hannah), regarded as a highly venomous snake, has been found for the first time in Gadawa, Dang. Snake rescuer Shivu Khanal rescued the snake from the house of Shusila Gurung, a resident of Gadawa Rural Municipality-7, Lakshminapur.

Upon receiving information about the snake’s sighting, rescuer Khanal reached the incident site immediately. Senior Divisional Forest Officer Ganesh Khadka of the Division Forest Office, Deukhuri, was then informed. A team led by Khanal, accompanied by two forest employees, successfully brought the snake under control alive after an effort of about one hour.

The rescued King Cobra, weighing approximately 8 kilograms and measuring 10 feet in length, was subsequently taken to the Ajammari Community Forest in Lamahi Municipality-5, where it was released back into its natural habitat in coordination with the Division Forest Office, Deukhuri.
