Barcelona Wins UEFA Women’s Champions League for the Fourth Time, Defeats Lyon 4-0 in Final

Barcelona — Spanish club Barcelona has won the UEFA Women’s Champions League 2026 title. In the final held on Saturday night, Barcelona defeated French club Lyon by a commanding 4-0 margin to lift the trophy for the fourth time.
With this victory, Barcelona has now won the title three times in the last four editions. Having won the title for the first time in 2021, Barcelona has now claimed this prestigious trophy a total of four times, in 2023, 2024, and now in 2026. Last year, in 2025, Arsenal won the title, breaking the dominance of Barcelona and Lyon.
In the final, Barcelona displayed aggressive play right from the start. Having scored two goals in the first half, Barcelona added two more in the second half to register a splendid 4-0 victory. Lyon, meanwhile, failed to breach Barcelona’s defence even once.
In the history of the UEFA Women’s Champions League, the most successful club remains Lyon. The French club has won a record eight titles between 2011 and 2022. Lyon had won five consecutive titles from 2016 to 2020, a record streak.
In recent years, however, Barcelona has established its dominance in European women’s football. Having reached the final for the first time in 2019, Barcelona was defeated 4-1 by Lyon. But in 2021, Barcelona won the title for the first time by defeating Chelsea 4-0. After that, although defeated 3-1 by Lyon in the 2022 final, Barcelona defeated Wolfsburg 3-2 in 2023 and once again defeated Lyon 2-0 in 2024 to win two consecutive titles. Last year, however, Arsenal stunned Barcelona in the semifinals to win the title for the first time. Now Barcelona has reclaimed the title.
