Russia and Tajikistan Reaffirm Commitment to Trust-Based Dialogue and Multilateral Coordination

Russia and Tajikistan have reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining trust-based political dialogue and strengthening coordination on major international and regional issues.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Tajik Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin held a telephone conversation on July 14 to discuss current areas of bilateral cooperation and coordination within multilateral forums.

The conversation took place at the initiative of the Russian side, according to the Russian Foreign Ministry.

During the talks, the two foreign ministers expressed their shared commitment to continuing the trusted dialogue that characterises Russia–Tajikistan relations.

They emphasised the importance of maintaining regular contact on issues of mutual interest and further developing cooperation in priority areas.

The ministers also agreed to continue coordinating their countries’ positions on key international and regional matters at the United Nations, the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation and other multilateral platforms.

Russia and Tajikistan maintain close cooperation in political, economic, security and humanitarian fields.

The latest telephone conversation reflects the two countries’ shared intention to give greater importance to bilateral dialogue and multilateral coordination amid changing regional and international circumstances.
